David Hill Photography
Photography and music. Both are artistic endeavors that I am drawn to. I've been a music lover since I was six years old, beginning with my mother's rock and roll 45s of The Beatles, Chubby Checker, and Elvis Presley.  Despite a desire beginning in my teens to be a rock star, I've never been more than a fair musician, although I do still enjoy playing multiple instruments.
For me, a concert is the purest form of music. There is nothing between the audience and the performer, an energy that you can't get from a recording.
Being able to combine photography with live music seemed like a natural fit for me. It is technically challenging, but capturing the raw emotion of a performance is worth that extra bit of effort.

Beginning with the first LP I ever purchased, Bob Dylan's Desire, I've always listened very critically to music. The flow of the album, the consistency of the songs, the quality of the recording, and most importantly, did I like the songs.
From time to time, I'll be reviewing new music here on the website, offering my opinions and feelings about the album.  Each link will open a new page.

Why Music?
Live music. I attend as many shows a year as I can, and I love to share my experiences. I'll give a brief review of the shows, and with my photography, try to give you a feeling for what it was like to be there.
As with the album review section, each link will take you to a new page, with a convenient "back" button to get you, well, back here.
