My first trip back to Spain in thirty years featured a fair amount of rain, most of it light, but there were periods of heavier showers. As I stopped along Calle del Arenal, a pedestrianized street near Puerta del Sol, I was struck by the number of tourists and Madrileños alike making their way through the city beneath umbrellas.
